Mary's singing career began at age six, when she was old enough to join the Children's Church Choir. Self-taught on the guitar, Mary began writing songs at sixteen. She continued to nurture her musical crafts by studying classical voice at CSU Fullerton, and later directing church choirs in San Diego.

Mary's music and its presentation are expressions of who she is and what she believes. Her songs contain a spirituality derived from her religious upbringing, personal experiences and observations. Her music draws the listener in as each lyric unveils a passionate, vulnerable side with the same emotion that was felt when it was first composed.
